3 Winter Fashion Lifesavers

By: Lauren Ashley Smith

Oh the weather outside is frightful… and that’s pretty much all one can focus on in these dreary winter months. For those of you who live in milder climates, this list may not be for you; but for those of us who are currently suffering through snow, ice, rain and low temperatures, here are three must-have items that will get you to Spring warmly and dryly.

  1. Tech savvy gloves – The only thing worse than having cold hands is having warm hands without a way to use your touch screen phone. Obviously, many apparel purveyors have stepped up to the plate to create tech-friendly gloves, but the amount of chic and fashion forward gloves that are also tech savvy are a little harder to come by. My top pick are these leather (with cashmere lining) Henri Bendel beauties that have a touchscreen-friendly pointer finger and are currently on sale for $69.
  2. Ear muffs – If you can believe it, I didn’t discover the beauty of earmuffs until just this winter. I had no idea the difference having your ears covered makes when you’re braving the elements. Now that I stand corrected, I’m here to share with you the cutest earmuffs I’ve ever seen; no hyperbole. They’re impossibly chic, totally warm, and very on trend. SURRELL’s rabbit fur earmuffs come in a variety of beautiful colors and the velvet strap makes you feel like you’re wearing a fashionable accessory; not just layering on another contraption to keep yourself alive. And here’s a little extra incentive: they’re also on sale at Lord & Taylor for $36.
  3. Duck boots – L.L. Bean’s iconic Duck boots are a winter must-have. They’re warm, they’re waterproof and as of now, they’re extremely back ordered. For whatever reason, teens everywhere have rediscovered the shoes so if you were to order a pair today, the earliest they’d arrive to you is June! Thanks, teens. But all hope is not lost. UGG and Sperry both have worthy and warm alternatives that you can actually get before it’s bikini season.

All you have to do is get your freezing cold hands on the three of these items and you’re guaranteed to make it through the rest of winter… and you’ll look good doing it.
