The World's Best Avocado Dip

By Susan "Honey" Good

Tomorrow is National Tequila Day, darlings! I have a delicious dip recipe that would pair well with a margarita... doesn't that sound wonderful?

This recipe has proven to be the most popular appetizer I serve. It is devoured by my guests! It is so delish and has ‘a flair of its own!’ When my guests feast their eyes on it they smile because of its multi-colored presentation. I promise you there will be nothing left on the platter and your guests will beg you for this recipe. Thanks to California Heritage Continues, I am able to share it with you.

Avocado Dip:

  • 4 ripe avocados, mashed
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1-2 drops Tabasco sauce
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ cup fresh lemon juice

Remaining Ingredients:

  • 4 oz grated Cheddar Cheese
  • 4 oz Jack cheese, grated
  • 4  medium tomatoes, diced
  • ½ cup green scallions
  • ¾ cup sliced pitted black olives
  • ¾ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup Salsa
  • 1 cup chopped fresh cilantro

On a round serving platter, layer ingredients in the following order: avocado dip, cheeses, tomatoes, green scallions, olives, sour cream, salsa, cilantro.

Serve with chips. I like either Regular Tortilla chips, or Black Corn chips. Serves 8.
