Have you noticed that everyone seems to be wearing and shopping Chico's of late? I recently took a closer look at Chico's and while I'm quite fond of their clothing and accessories, I became really fascinated by their story, the history of Chico's, how they started and how they found success.
I write so often about discovering your true purpose, finding your light, if you will. And, that's a heartfelt message, darlings, because just a few years ago, while many of my friends were settling down, enjoying the fruits of their labor via retirement -- and trying to keep their retired husbands entertained -- I decided that I still had a purpose, a goal that I had to live into. So, as a burgeoning business woman over 50, the story of others hard won success fascinates me.
The Chico's you know:
Chico’s clothing, jewelry and accessory line is stylish, sophisticated, and playful. Their Traveler’s Collection is wrinkle-free making it really ideal for the many adventures we have each earned! Their in-store style experts help you coordinate and build your wardrobe so you never feel like you are at a loss for how to put together an outfit, or even an entire wardrobe. I'm quite fond of their jewelry as of late including statement necklaces that turn a simple dress or blouse into something simply stunning, as pictured below.
The story of Chico's you may not know...but will love reading about!
I love history, darlings! It tells a story and Chico's is a success story.
Founded in love: Marvin and Helene Gralnick, who met in Mexico in 1971, started Chico's in Sanibel Island, Florida in 1983 when they opened a small boutique selling Mexican art and sweaters. Their friendly attitude coupled with their flair for design has propelled them into a chain of hundreds of boutique shops, a monthly catalog and around the clock shopping at Chicos.com
I discovered that in terms of style and business, Chico's has ‘got it right!’
Political appeal: Michelle Obama is a fan. She wore a dress by White House | Black Market (Chico's sister company) on ABC's The View! on June 18, 2008. My husband Shelly always says that in business, "contacts make contracts" and having the president's wife as a client would likely be a boon to most businesses. (And if politics interest you, read this week's story about Elizabeth Warren here.)
My experience with Chico’s has been ‘only good.’ My mother wears their elastic banded stylish slacks, I travel with their jewelry and I purchase pieces for my daughters and my granddaughters. Which means that four generations of my family is wearing Chico's and that tells me...we need to gift some of these goodies to you all, darling readers. So, whether you are a Chico's fan already or you are just discovering this chic brand, I think you need some gratis goodies in your life!

What shoppes or brands do you love? What companies do you admire? Let's be honest, as women we care as much about the people behind the brand as the product itself. I would love to hear more about where you shop and what brands you trust.
