Decorating a Guest Room

By: Honey Good

The Summer months call for many-an-out-town-guest for Shelly and me. One of the perks of Summer! We love having our friends pay a visit because, as we all know, Chicago is the best city to live in during the warmer months. Now, the winters...that's a different story. Hello Palm Springs!

One of my favorite rooms to decorate is our guest room. It's so important that my guests feel "at home" and cozy when they spend time with us. My tips are simple:

  • Go for neutral colors...it's easier to change out accessories when it's time for a change.
  • Opt for plenty of light! Keep the walls and bedding light and airy but calming in the evening when it's time to hit the hay.
  • Let your personality shine through. I love to incorporate great coffee table books and fashionable accessories to liven up the room. Travel knick knacks are great for decorating, too!
  • Less is more! Avoid cluttering nightstands and desks with your STUFF! Keep the surfaces clean so that your guest can give their electronics, eyeglasses and reading materials a home.

Ready to shop? Me, too! Then again, I'm always ready to shop! Check out some of my favorite decor finds here:

Enjoy the weekend and happy hosting! xx
