How to Prepare for the Golden Globes

Golden Globes

The 2015 awards show season kicks off this Sunday with the Golden Globes. I'm a big fan of these awards shows. I once admitted in a large group of people that I thought the Oscars are more important than the Superbowl. I stand by that opinion. This year marks the first time in four years that I can actually sit down and watch the Golden Globes. So, let's get ready for the Golden Globes together.

  1. Review Amy & Tina's best moments from 2013 and 2014. The reigning queens of the Golden Globes are back for one co-hosting gig. These funny ladies kill it on television and film, so there is no doubt that their third time hosting will be hilarious. But if you are like me, and have had the great misfortune of missing Tina and Amy's jokes from the last two years, you should brush up on the duo's best material. Check out their funniest moments from the 2013 show here and the 2014 show here.
  2. Brush up on the nominees. Sure, Tina and Amy will be great, but what's the point of watching if you don't know who/what is nominated? You can find the full list of nominees here. If you have time before the big show on Sunday, try checking out some of the movies and television shows nominated. You can legally stream nearly every nominated TV show online, along with a handful of the nominated movies. This list should satisfy your streaming needs.
  3. Gather some friends for a viewing party. Award shows are better watched in groups - so make a party of it! There are tons of ways to make your party one of a kind. Have your friends arrive in red carpet fashions, or dressed as characters from nominated shows/films. Offer your guests movie theatre popcorn. Play drinking games during the show.

Let the countdown to the 2015 Golden Globes begin!
