Are you ready for the next wave of innovation in home and furniture design, accommodating the housing needs of Baby Boomers, the largest generation of Americans born in U.S. history? Not long ago, this generation of 77 million helped propel the boom and bust cycles of the housing market and they’re shaping it yet again!
A recent California Realtors’ survey confirms what most of us suspect -- Baby Boomers (ages 51 to 69) plan to “age gracefully” in their current homes. According to the survey, 59% of Boomers in the U.S. do not intend to sell their homes when they retire.
Forward-thinking home designers and furniture manufacturers are creating universally-designed products, which not only are highly-styled and unique, but also functional and safe, according to Mitzi Beach, a Boomer design expert, writer and educator. Read about her favorite “universal design” finds, including the electrical lift range pictured above. The range was featured in the recent Kitchen & Bath International Show (KBIS2015) in Las Vegas.
