It's the Girls! in The Divine Miss M Tour Explodes with Estrogen
Attention All Bette Midler Fans: the Divine Miss M sings music from her latest album -- It's the Girls! -- during her first major concert tour in more than a decade. The multi-city, Divine Intervention tour started in May and runs through July.
It's the Girls! features girl group songs from the WWII-era Andrews Sisters and '60s groups like the Supremes and the Shirelles to the '90s hit-makers TLC.
“We’ve stuffed so many glorious girl groups into this album - - it’s an exquisite explosion of estrogen!” Midler said on her website. “… what they (girl groups) gave to the world is still relevant, and still necessary; joy, attitude and the golden dream of a youth that will never fade.”
Midler's Divine Intervention tour includes one performance in each of more than a dozen- and-a-half major American cities* as well as Toronto, Vancouver and several cities in the UK. Miss M belts out tributes to girl groups during her May and June concerts in the U.S. and Canada. She then crosses the pond for July engagements in the UK.
A Grammy Award-winning vocalist, Midler has also earned fame as a songwriter, actress, comedian and film producer. She won four Grammys, two Academy Award nominations, three Emmys, one Tony, three Golden Globes and nine American Comedy Awards. And on top of those accomplishments, she has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide!
* Except New York where she'll perform on three different evenings.
