Recipe for Turkey Chili

By: Arlene Bronstein

It's chili season! Fall (and soon winter) weather calls for this comfort food. This chili recipe from Cookie Stagman’s BEAUTIFUL BUFFETS,II really fits that description. You can substitute the turkey for ground beef. The best part is that this is very quick and easy to prepare for that last minute company that shows up over the holidays. Get a big crusty bread and a leafy green salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots and chunks of avocados and you have a perfect fall/winter dinner!

Ingredients:

  • 1    large onion, chopped
  • 1  pound ground turkey
  • 1    15 ounce can white navy beans, drained
  • 1    15 ounce can red kidney beans, drained
  • 1    15 ounce can garbanzo beans, drained
  • 1    package chili seasoning (Lawry’s or McCormick’s)
  • 2    8 ounce cans petite diced tomatoes

Garnish:

  • cheddar cheese, shredded (optional)
  • sour cream (optional)
  • chopped onions (optional)

In a large pot, brown the chopped onion and ground turkey.  Drain the pan of the excess liquids. Add all the remaining ingredients and cook for 20 minutes.

Let your guests choose which garnish to add to their individual servings!
