Girlfriend Getaways | #WanderlustWednesday

By Susan "Honey" Good

Did you know, darlings, that according to AAA girlfriend getaways generate $5 billion annually for the travel industry.  That means that there are quite a few of us traveling with our friends. What fun! Leave the hubby at home, and head to one (or all) of these cities for a girlfriend getaway...

Head to Honolulu

My love for Hawaii is no secret and Honolulu is one of the best places to visit with girlfriends for a variety of reasons. If you stay at the Moana Surfrider resort in Waikiki, which has long been called the “first lady of Waikiki,” you and your girlfiends can sip tea on the veranda, relax to the soothing sounds of crashing waves, do yoga on the beach or indulge in stand-up-paddleboard lesson from Surf HNL.

Southern Charm in South Carolina

Charleston is one of the best girlfriend-getaway destinations thanks in part to the many amenities the city has to offer... and lots of Southern Charm, of course. Book a room about 45 minutes out of the city at Wild Dunes Resort. Wild Dunes offer all of the benefits of a sea resort but it's close enough to Charleston to enjoy the amazing night life, shopping and eating that the city of Charleston serves up. Or, stay right in the heart of Charleston at the French Quarter Inn.  While in Charleston, sample some of the city's most enjoyable offerings. Shop at the 4 block City Market, check out Fort Somter, head to the Charleston Waterfront Park, take a boat tour and shop til you drop at the many small yet stunning independent retail shops. You need to go to Nantucket

Nantucket, the 50 sq. mile island off the coast of Cape Cod, has been named one of the top places for a Girlfriend Getaway by Travel & Leisure. Where to stay? Book a charming cottage at The Nantucket Hotel + Resort, just a few minute walk from the heart of the city.

Once downtown, you'll find amazing restaurants and of course, shopping galore. Head to the Nantucket Vineyard, Cisco Brewers and Triple Eight Distillery to toast to friendship and plan a trip the to the Whaling Museum. There are no shortage of beaches, of course. so long lazy days spent relaxing with friends is a given.
