I still take pride in how I look and I still enjoy romantic dates with my husband, Shelly. As a woman, does the thrill of wearing a new dress and getting dolled up ever go away? I don’t think so, darlings!

So, today, I’ve rounded up a few tips for putting together a romantic Valentine’s Day look. I’d love to hear about your Valentine’s Day plans and I do hope, darlings, that there is something love-ly on your agenda for February 14.

Cindy Joseph, model, and makeup guru, offers up makeup tips for bloomers, here. One of her best tips is to use cream-based, not powder-based, cosmetics because powder will emphasize fine lines and wrinkles… something that none of us needs at our age!

One product to try is Inglot Amc Cream Foundation (get it for $36, here.) Available in an expansive range of shades, it’s an ideal product for dry, mature skin. Those looking for a more budget-friendly option should try Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation, less than $8.00 at Target.

Bold Lashes

Are you willing to go bold with your lashes? Bold lashes can really open up eyes as they age. as I mentioned in my story about makeup for older eyes here. But there is another option, and it’s a fun, date night look. Falsies are still all the rage, and while I don’t recommend them for every day use, they can be quite charming for special occasions.

Lip Dos and Don’ts

A bold lip goes a long way, but please be careful because a dark lip that’s too dark will age you. Instead, opt for a fun, bright lip as in poppy red and even, if you dare, fuchsia. Also beware of overusing lip liner, although I do recommend using a liner of some type to keep lipstick from bleeding into the fine lines that many of us have after 50. One to try is Cargo’s “reverse lipliner” sold here.  Use this liner to line your lips from the outside in, to add definition and fullness to the lip line, and to “lock” color in place.

Blush, Baby, Blush

While new makeup trends seem to emerge every month, blush has long been a timeless staple for any beauty look, and it’s not going away anytime soon. Blush makes a regular appearance in most everyone’s makeup routines because it gives the face the perfect flush of color you need to get the day started.

But as we all know, finding the right blush can take a lot of trial and error, especially as we age. When it comes to mature skin, cream blushes are best for creating a youthful, radiant look. They won’t fall into creases and they’re full of nourishing ingredients that hydrate and create natural-looking color.

And Lastly, Décolleté… Yes or No?

I have been seeing pictures of women after 50 showing off their ample bosoms. I support every woman’s right to do whatever makes her feel confident and sexy.
