Darlings I love makeup. I love the femininity of cosmetics. I love the feeling of looking good. I love experimenting with my look and I think a lot of women in your life probably feel that way which is why I’m introducing the makeup gift guide for the holiday season.
Cosmetics can be expensive, but the holidays are a perfect time to gift the makeup lover in your life with something exquisite! It’s also a great time to treat yourself to something you’ve been eyeing. Whether it’s a luxurious face cream or a bold lip color, makeup lovers who like to experiment with their look will love these products that are always on my wish list.
The makeup gift guide
La Mer Face cream
This cream is just decadent, darlings, but of course, it has a price tag to match. It would be a good splurge gift for yourself or a loved one. Now is also the perfect time to buy it, with dry winter months upon us.
Buy it here: $85–475 from Nordstrom
Tom Ford Lipstick
I am a huge fan of Tom Ford’s lip colors and with such a range of colors, there is something to suit everyone. I personally recommend Black Dahlia ( Buy it here: $54 from Saks Fifth Avenue) or Violet Fatale ( Buy it here: $54 from Neiman Marcus ).
Benefit Foolproof Brow Powder
Groomed eyebrows are back in vogue and no one has cornered the market on eyebrow products like Benefit. Their Foolproof Brow Powder is great for those who have fallen victim to over-tweezing in the past. If you have a loved one with fantastic brows this will make upkeep easy. If you have someone who you know can’t find the right product gift them this. Buy it here: $24 at Ulta
Zoya nail polish
Less is best when it comes to chemicals in cosmetics so for those women in your life who love to do their own manicures I recommend Zoya’s polish. They have a full line of on-trend non-toxic nail polish. The colors are stunning. If natural beauty brands are your thing read my story here on other beautiful cosmetic brands with fewer chemicals. You can buy the holiday four pack from Zoya for $15.99 at DSW.
Benefit Eye Bright
I often use white makeup near my eyes to help them look bigger. Benefit must have heard this trick too because they make a fabulous pencil in a fabulous light pink to help give that wide-eyed appearance. Buy it here: $20 from Benefit
L’Occitane
Where do I even start with this brand?! It’s perfect for the girlfriend for whom you want to give something both beautiful and functional. Their packaging is just gorgeous. I have recommended their creams to help with aging drier skin in the winter (read that story here!), but the holidays are a great time to give gift sets with smaller products( like this at home manicure set for $57.60) so they can find what works for them.
fresh’s soy face cleanser
I’ve talked about this amazing cleanser before. What goes on must come off! Especially when it comes to makeup for women over 50 ( read why here!) and nothing makes my face feel as clean and fabulous as fresh’s soy face cleanser.
Buy it here: $15-$38 at Nordstrom
Look for lookalikes
Not all good things need to be expensive, dear readers. Check out my story on high-end products that have drugstore duplicates here! That way you can gift( or get!) the trendy look without the high prices!
I hope I’ve given you some gift ideas for those that love makeup in your life. It’s so fun to give someone something you know they will adore and for makeup lovers what is better than a new product to experiment with? Happy shopping!

Honey, thanks for your recommendations, I will definitely try some of them. May I ask you a personal question? Have you had any facial work done. I’m thinking about doing something to improve my 70 year old face…..but I’m scared. Not sure what would make the most impact. Thanks. Eileen
Love be your choker. Where can I find one?
