Happy Valentine’s Day, my friends! I hope your day is filled with a heart-bursting amount of joy and adoration. In honor of this love-ly day, I’m sharing some life-changing beauty products for those of us after 50. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill list of new beauty items, this is a run to the store and get these because they will change your life kind of list. Happy reading and happier day!
Beauty Products After 50
Reverse Lip Liner
For many, many women after 50, lipstick begins to feather and fade very shortly after application. I’m here to eradicate that problem for you, darlings.
I mentioned this product on my last Facebook LIVE and it is a must. It is called reverse lip liner and it’s made by a company that has been around for decades, DuWop.
This invisible, matte liner holds lip color in place. It prevents feathering and bleeding AND restores volume for a plump appearance. Get it for $19 here: https://shopstyle.it/l/ygKQ.
Get in Your “Prime”
Primer is the secret to flawless makeup after 50.
You apply a primer after your moisturizer and before your foundation. A primer is just what it sounds like; similar to priming your walls before you paint them, a primer allows foundation to apply smoothly.
Today’s primers are designed to make your skin look smooth, silky, reduce the appearance of pores and hold your makeup in place for hours.
I personally use Sisley-Paris’ Instant Eclat, an illuminating primer that erases shadowy areas and signs of tiredness. This non-greasy formula contains kiwi, Butcher’s Broom, and Padina Pavonica extracts to help moisturize, energize, tone, and plump the complexion. Get it for $90 here: https://shopstyle.it/l/ygNW.
( I am working on a story for next week which will be all about primers and feature my top 5 recommendations and a GIVE AWAY so stay tuned!)
The Best Mascara
I was surprised by how many of you commented during my Facebook LIVE last week that you have problems with your mascara running and flaking. Ladies, I do not have this problem! I can think of only one reason: I am loyal to my Chanel mascara.
At first glance, it may seem pricey but if the price you pay for buying a less expensive mascara is raccoon eyes, then I would argue that my department store brand is well worth every penny! Don’t you agree?
So, with that said here’s what I use: I opt for Chanel Black. As an aside, I do wear mascara on both my top and bottom lashes. I also don’t wear waterproof mascara! I understand the merits of waterproof mascara, but I don’t use it often because it is much too difficult to get off and lashes are so so delicate darlings. We need to protect them!
That’s it, a quick list of the items in my makeup bag that I count on daily to feel great about how I look. A reminder, beauty starts from within so before you look to a new mascara or a bold lip to change how you feel about you, please make sure you are tending to your soul, your dreams, your desires. We may be over 50 but we have countless days to enjoy — make them count and you will feel beautiful, inside and out.
