I have often been asked to describe who I am. Often, I hem and haw because I wear many hats. I am a woman of a certain age, a wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, girlfriend, writer, author, problem solver, world traveler, shopper, owner of a company, and ya da da da da da! When push comes to shove, I can proudly say in one sentence: I am a woman who gets it because I’ve lived it!
WHY I AM A WOMAN WHO ‘GETS IT!’
I am a woman who experienced the lowest of lows and the highest of highs. I have risen to heights because I have the ability to find the light at the end of the tunnel instead of staying stuck in the negativity of the moment. I know how to climb out of despair and become stronger than ever — with a lesson learned along the way. I am smiling.

Every entry above (and there are more!) I have lived, felt the pain, learned a lesson, and moved forward in my life to thrive better than ever. I want that for you. With your commitment, I have the tools to prod you along into living your best life possible because…
I am Honey Good. I have earned a Ph.D. in ‘life.’ I have lived my problems, and survived my problems; not read about them in a book, so… I get it!
A PROBLEM I SOLVED THIS MORNING!
Why just this morning, my phone rang at 8:00 am. My neighbor across the hall needed my help. She had hip surgery (I found her a caregiver at that time) and learned yesterday she may have a stress fracture. She has to stay off her feet. Her husband cannot take care of her because he is not well.
“Of course,” I said in my cheery voice (I am a morning person!)” The wheels started turning in my head.
“Would you consider a male caregiver?”
She asked me why.
I was able to analyze her situation in a second. I was not blind-sighted in the moment. I saw the larger picture.
“Because down the road, Peter is going to need care, not you, and it might be a good idea to introduce him to a male caregiver at this time. What do you think?”
She loved the idea. I gave her the name of a man I trusted. All is now well across the hall. Truth be told, I am as happy as she is because I care.
LIFE HAS ITS HILLS AND VALLEYS
Let’s not kid ourselves, life has its hills and valleys. None of us are immune.
I will advise you how to be aware, how to adapt, how to stay calm and carry on. I will show you the importance of listening to your heart, why you have to take care of yourself, first, how to focus, and how to prioritize relationships. How to avoid negative people and expand your social network, how to take care of your well-being, how to erase fears, and how to live in Elsewhere.
I have learned you can survive anything when you build up your resilience. I will teach you how to cope, overcome adversity, and enjoy better days ahead. And, I am free!!!!! Amen.
Love,
Honey

One way I “cut the fluff” is to chop off my fingernails with a scissors when they they get too long. Yes, I could afford to go to a nails place to get them professionally manicured but it takes my time, & I am a very busy kidney dialysis patient; that is my part-time job in retirement; did not really plan on that after being a disabled (mental illness), a college administrator, a volunteer at many places. One upon a time (before1980 ) I was a practicing alcoholic while working full-time. I Have always gone to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings; now it has been 42 1/2 years of sobriety, 43 on 8-8-80. Enuf about me! Peace & Joy to my fellow awesome women! Thanx, Honey, for having this place for feedback, comments.
I am so proud of you! When I stopped smoking in my 20’s it was so difficult but like you I persevered, faced the war and won the battle. Congrats to both of us!!! Warmly, Honey
