What to wear on New Years Eve: Accessories to help you sparkle

New Years Eve isn’t just a regular night, darlings. It’s a night to sparkle! And what better way to sparkle than with fabulous accessories. So to ring in 2018 I think you should go shopping in your closet, but add some bold statement accessories. Adding statement jewelry to an outfit allows you to do something that I don’t ordinarily do, jump on super trendy pieces without breaking the bank. Statement jewelry can be expensive, but not nearly as much as the real deal. Here is a roundup of what to wear for New Years Eve jewelry at several price points to help you sparkle.

Necklaces

I know from past posts many of you LOVE statement necklaces and these can turn a basic black dress into a New Years Eve ready ensemble in a flash.

Earrings

If you are already going sparkly go big and bold and dangly with your earrings to kick your look up a notch.

Bangles

I love enamel bangles, but for New Years I think you should go with something that has a little bit more sparkle than color. Metallics and stones are a great way to go to make a statement.

Left: Charter Club Clear Glass Pave Bangle – Buy it here: $19.25 at Macy’s
Center: Jenny Packham Crystal Bangle Bracelet – Buy it here: $65 at Lord & Taylor
Right: Steel by Design Stainless Steel Pyramid Crystal Station Oval Bangle – Buy it here: $18.02 at QVC

Left: Charter Club Silver-Tone Pave & Imitation Pearl Hinged Bangle Bracelet, Created for Macy’s – Buy it here: $12.99 at Macy’s

Right: Kate Spade New York – Set in Stone Stone Hinged Bangle Bracelet – Buy it here: $48 at Zappos Luxury

Clutches

Adding a pop to your outfit with a fun bag for your belongings is a great way to liven up a New Years Eve look. I went with clutches because for events a clutch seems less cumbersome than a handbag for the evening. Of course, if you really want to be footloose and fancy free, your date’s pocket is also an acceptable place to stash your belongings. My husband Shelly knows this all too well!

Left: Dolli Caesar Clutch – Buy it here: $149.97 at Nordstrom Rack
Center: Rebecca Minkoff Leo Leather Clutch – Buy it here: $66.50 at Saks Fifth Avenue
Right: Deux Lux Static Clutch – Buy it here: $58 at Bloomingdale’s

Left: Nina Gunmetal Shimmer Bow Wristlet – Buy it here:  $19.97  at Nordstrom Rack
Center: Jessica McClintock Patti Chain Mesh Crossbody & Power-on-the-Go Charging Pack – Buy it here:  $24.97 at Nordstrom
Right: Rebecca Minkoff Glitter Leo Leather Clutch – Buy it here: $95 at Saks Fifth Avenue

As for what you are wearing with these sparkly pieces, I think a lot of the same rules I ran through in my piece on “How to dress for a holiday party after 50” still apply. Think metallics and velvet and menswear, while avoiding kitschy pieces.
