~Your flowers get tossed, the vase goes on the shelf, your letter is a forever
The best Mother’s Day gift you can give your mother or your daughter on Mother’s Day is a hand written letter on your personal stationary. You don’t have to stand in front of the Mother’s Day card section at Papyrus, my favorite card shop, to find a card. You don’t have to search for presents on line or shop till you drop! Why? There is nothing your mother or daughter will enjoy more then words you have written from your heart.
I am aware that some mother-daughter relationships are rocky. I also know that some of you have trouble expressing your thoughts in words. Mother’s Day is your perfect opportunity to renew a relationship or learn to pen a loving heartfelt note.
I have a few suggested topics to start you on your way.
~ Thank her for her sacrifice and love
~ Acknowledge a special memory
~ Write a genuine apology letter
~ Describe, in your words, the deep bond you feel between yourself and your mother or your daughter.
~ A note of appreciation for the values your mother taught you; how they shaped you into the woman you are today.
~Distinguish her, in your words, as the most fabulous mother or daughter in the world!
I penned this blog because, as the mom to two daughters, I have had the pleasure of receiving letters from them. They are treasured gifts carefully tucked away in my ‘memory drawer.’ Yes, I really do have a memory drawer!
I write often about the ‘value of giving gifts from the heart.’ My mother will receive a Mother’s Day letter from me, again this year. I know she will place it along with the many others in her memory drawer. Like mother, like daughter. I will always be my mother’s daughter with pride.
