I’ve been around long enough to see oh-so-many trends come and go. And what I’ve learned about trends is this: love them, enjoy them but never become a slave to them.

Now, some women our age say they eschew trends all together. What fun is that, darlings? I love to stay up to date on the latest styles but I only wear what suits me. I wear my clothes and never vice versa. No trend will earn a spot in my closet unless it stirs my soul and speaks to my sense of style.

Denim is always hot for autumn and Fall 2018 is no different. Do I wear jeans at this stage in my life? You bet! I adore my jeans. In fact, I think I spend more hours in a day with my jeans than I do with my husband! I even walk our new pup… in my jeans! I go to the market and the movies… in my jeans.

Styling Denim the “Honey” Way

I love to dress jeans down with a great casual top plus belt and boots to go to Pizano’s on Sunday night for pizza. Or, I pair denim with a black leather or silk shirt, beautiful suede or leather jacket, and high heeled boots to dine out at Gene and Georgetti or Gibsons. And, last but not least, my suitcase never leaves home… without my jeans! So darlings, when I say, “I love my jeans,” that is putting it mildly! I really should be saying, “I love, love, love my jeans.” I’m discerning about which brand I wear because a fit that flatters is the key to great style.

The fit of the Talbots jeans I am wearing in these pictures is pure perfection. The jeans fit me like a glove when I tried them on! All they needed was shortening. I recommend them. I love the color, fit and comfort, but first and foremost, darlings, I love the style of these jeans.

Denim Trends to Try for Fall 2018

I always pay attention to what’s new and “haute” if you will, before deciding if I want to embrace any of the season’s latest looks. Here’s are a few denim trends for Fall 2018 that I find quite wearable and worth taking for a spin:

• Wide leg denim inspired by the ’70s. It’s a throwback that looks great and feels amazing to boot.
• Frayed edges. Done well, frayed can be fun and fashionable.
• Denim midi skirts. These are skirts that hit below the knee and look great with boots. Forget minis, we’re all about midis this fall!
• Denim shirt dresses. Could there be anything easier, darlings?
• Flared jeans. Forget straight legs and skinny jeans (great news, right?). This fall it’s all about flare, like the cut in my Talbots jeans pictured above.
