Loving The Way You Look – Summer Anti-Aging Skincare!

Loving the way you look… let’s take a gander at summer anti-aging skincare products!

Loving The Way You Look - Summer Anti-Aging Skincare!

Summer is finally approaching. We’ve waited for so long… long days at the beach, sunkissed hair with natural highlights, a bronzy tan, and a ton of fun. Summer is when the positive energy reaches its maximum. So, it is time to soak up the sun and enjoy some positive vibes.

You probably want to make it memorable because it was tough to have fun and relax for a bit with the ongoing pandemic happening. We are eager to have a good time.

But in the end, you don’t want to get back from your vacation with dull skin that will make you look tired and older. You deserve some serious pampering, and so does your skin. Your beauty is timeless, and you are in your best years now. Be sure that your summer skin routine is all about glowing and staying hydrated. Highlighters are great, but when you are glowing from the inside – it’s the only time it counts.

We will list some of our anti-aging favorites for this summer. Turn that frown upside down and forget about frown lines.

Free Yourself From Free Radicals

Free radicals are to blame for numerous things. Free radicals are unstable molecules roaming around and doing damage to your cells. In order to stabilize, they try to bond with other more stable molecules. To protect yourself from free radicals, it is important to avoid UV radiation, quit smoking, and stop drinking alcohol.

Yet, air pollution is also to blame as well as pesticides in our food. Avoiding complete exposure to free radicals is nearly impossible, but you can do some things that will help you prevent the damage.

The secret lies in antioxidants. Don’t forget about them during the summer months when UV radiation is most active. Some of the best antioxidants that will keep your skin energized are vitamin C, vitamin E, and vitamin D. Resveratrol (found in red wine, grapes, and peanuts) can help you with UVB protection. Niacinamide will help you with skin blemishes.

Some of the superfoods and drinks include – green tea, matcha, turmeric, and blackberries.

Summer Skincare 101: The Essentials

You probably know the proper foundations of the skincare routine. Cleaning (buy Honey’s favorite), toning, and moisturizing is the key. Exfoliate your face and body once a week to remove dead skin cells (two great products are Fresh Sugar Face Polish, and their Brown Sugar Body Polish). Although, keeping your skin healthy during the summer months requires some additional steps. It also includes drinking more water, eating fresh foods, and getting enough sleep.

Sun might give you a healthy golden skin tone but also can do damage to your skin. So make sure to use products with a high sun protection factor. Sun damage is not skin deep, unfortunately, and some damages are irreparable. The worst-case can even lead to skin cancer. So, avoid the sun when UV radiation activity is high (from 11 am to 5 pm).

Our Favorites For Summer Skincare

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Multivitamin Hydrating & Revitalizing Face Serum – rich in vitamins and helps build natural moisture barriers for your skin.

For summer, lightweight sunscreen rich with vitamins and high sun protection is your best friend – our recommendation goes to EltaMD UV Daily SPF 40.

For a clean and hydrated face – La Roche-Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser. It contains thermal water, ceramides, and niacinamide that we previously mentioned.

We mentioned exfoliation as an extra step. We recommend Aveeno Positively Radiant Skin Brightening Exfoliating Daily Facial Scrub. Soy extract will help your skin become even more radiant.

Bonus tip: hydrate! That’s right, drink more water. You can add lemon, peppermint leaves, and even some honey. Make an ice tea (green tea or matcha) and add oat creamer (which is an excellent substitute for dairy products) and enjoy a creamy and healthy drink. Oat milk and creamers are natural humectants, so they will help you with keeping hydrated.

Vitamin C Is The True Star Of The Beach

We all need Vitamin SEA, but Vitamin C will save your day as well!

You know that nothing beats a great fruit cocktail in the summer. Tropical flavors of coconut, pineapple, and orange oozing with rich flavors are perfect for a long summer day. That is the ideal vacation image we all have in our heads, and that keeps us going through the stress at work every day.

Vitamin C serum will be your best friend for the summer. Combined with a great moisturizer, your skin will be nourished and hydrated. Serums are practical and feel so refreshing on our skin. So make sure you have the following by your side on summer days – vitamin C serum, collagen, and hyaluronic serum. Our favorites:

TruSkin Vitamin C Serum for Face – it combines both hyaluronic acid and vitamin c. Always use it as a step between cleansing and moisturizer. Add a few drops during the day to look and feel more refreshed.

Collagen anti-aging serum by Elastalift is easy to absorb, and the non-greasy – collagen can help restore your natural beauty.

Wear a Hat and Sunglasses

Wearing a hat can help protect your skin from direct exposure to sunlight. The skin around your eyes is sensitive and since it is thinner, make sure to wear polarized sunglasses. Find a shape that flatters your face and feel like a movie star on vacation.

Maybe you always wanted to rock those cat-eye sunglasses? Or RayBan pilot glasses? It is up to you to find your unique summer style. Experiment, be stylish and protect your youthful looks.

Relax and Have Fun

Summer is the time to relax and have some fun. Try not to overthink and follow our tips. You will feel better if you simply don’t think about free radicals. Just try making healthier choices. Summer skincare is a bit different from your regular one, but in order to glow all year long, you need to remain happy and fulfilled. Wrinkles are here to help us remember some great moments that made us what we are today. Smile with no guilt, enjoy fresh fruit, and get your vitamin D dose this year. We all need that!

  1. Vicky Smathers says:

    Dear Honey,
I am 69 and my skin care routine has been sporadic over the years. I am trying to do better so I am always interested in your skin care information. I have been advised to use only one brand from Cleaner to night cream and exfoliation because the products are designed to work together. What is your opinion about this? Do you mix brands? What do you use?
    Warmly,
    Vicky

    • Honey Good says:

Some professionaladvise it is fine to mix and some advise to use the same brand. I use the same brand for soap, moisturizer,make-up,concealer and mask. I use different products for my eyes and lips. But you can experiment and use a brand for this and another for that, too. I think it is a toss up. Warmly, Honey
