Happy Saturday, darlings! Whew, what a week. I flew from California back to my Sweet Home Chicago. And, while in California, I went outside of my comfort zone once more and recorded podcasts. I’ll be sharing soon!
But enough about me, what a week in the news, as well! I never get into politics on HoneyGood.com, so you won’t see me sharing that type of fodder here but, just like so many of you, I do care deeply about our country and the world at large. On a lighter note, I found fascinating stories on subjects ranging from tulips — yes, tulips — to travel. Here’s what intrigued me this week…
Who Loves Tulips?
If you love tulips, as I do, this massive tulip installation in Kingsway may tickle your fancy.
I Heart Tulips is an enormous, one-day floral installation that has been set up at the Grand Court. The installation features 10,000 live, red and white tulips, arranged in the shape of a heart. I Heart Tulips, as an aside, was made by the creators of the uber-popular Chilliwack Tulip Festival which takes place each March in Vancouver, CA.
Oscar Nods and Snubs
Oscar nominations have been made for the 91st Academy Awards! Roma, Green Book, and A Star Is Born will compete for many Oscars to include Best Picture.
According to Rolling Stone Magazine, A Star Is Born was nominated for eight Oscars, including Best Actor for Bradley Cooper, Best Actress for Lady Gaga, Best Supporting Actor for Sam Elliott, and Best Original Song.
If you haven’t yet seen this wonderful movie, put it on your list! My friends over at Peneflix.com wrote an excellent review of the movie here: www.peneflix.com/a-star-is-born. I suggest you read the review and then promptly make plans to stream the film once it’s available!
Many feel there were some serious snubs in the best director category to include Bradley Cooper, director of A Star Is Born as well as Peter Farrelly for Green Book, and Ryan Coogler for Black Panther.
Birds do it, Bees do it, Even Educated Fleas do it…
You cheeky little darlings! Your favorite story last week was a little post I wrote about sex appeal after 50.
In the article, I raise important questions: What is the meaning of “sex appeal” and when are you too old to flaunt it? I have opinions to share… and I want to hear yours, too!
Financial Advice For Your Kids, Grands… and Maybe Even, For You!
I recently discovered, and I already adore, Paula from Afford Anything. The caption on the home page of her money smart blog is fabulous. “You can afford anything,” it declares in large font. “but not everything.” And then, the next thought follows… “What’s it gonna be?”
One of her recent posts is titled “17 lessons to improve your money & life,” and it covers the fact that money can’t make you happy. but the lack of money can make you unhappy. So, what does that mean for YOU and your life’s happiness, financial and otherwise?

Wow so much fun to see you in person! I am getting your book because it really will be a treasure someday. If only my grandma could have passed on such a meaningful history.
If you don’t mind my asking…How do yo keep your skin so lovely?!

I think it is in my genes. I wash my face with Fresh (the Brand name) Cucumber and then I apply two La Mer products. The lifting contour Serum and Creme de la Mer moistening cream and sun block. Hope this helps. Warmly, Honey
