Weekend Musings: 4th of July History, Recipes & Much More!

Darling, Happy 4th of July Weekend! As most of you know, I love my country, and I’m proud to be an American (hence why I named my dog, America!). So, it got me thinking about the history of America and why we celebrate the 4th of July.

According to the History Channel:

“The Fourth of July—also known as Independence Day or July 4th—has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1941, but the tradition of Independence Day celebrations goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution. On July 2nd, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence, and two days later delegates from the 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence, a historic document drafted by Thomas Jefferson. From 1776 to the present day, July 4th has been celebrated as the birth of American independence.”

I think it’s important that we celebrate our independence, and we also celebrate the freedoms that we enjoy as Americans. I hope you all are holding your family close and enjoying all of your outings and BBQs. As well, make sure you stay safe!
