Changes. That is what fall brings us. Back to school, back to work, no more summer vacation, changing of the weather and changing of the leaves…
I don’t know about you, but fall makes me think of ‘turning over a new leaf.’ And what do I mean by that? It means that I take the old and I turn it over. I turn old patterns into new patterns and change old thoughts into new thoughts.
This may sound easy, but it can be very difficult to master. It is hard to change old patterns and it can be hard to turn over a new leaf. Just think of how much difficulty we have in changing our diet. We may say, “I will never eat another cookie again!” but then the next day we eat a cookie. However, turning over a new leaf can be very rewarding. Think of how nice it will be when you finally stop eating cookies and you fit into a smaller size pant at Bloomingdales! How exciting!
So, I challenge you to pull out your journal and think of all of the ways you can ‘turn over a new leaf’ this fall. You don’t have to do them all but start with one. I promise it will be rewarding.
Now, on to my Weekend Musings…
20th Anniversary or September 11th
Today is the 20th Anniversary of September 11th in the United States of America. It marks a day in American History (and World History) when everything changed. I remember where I was that day, just as I know you remember where you were that day. The tragic events that unfolded on September 11th will always live in our hearts.
Today, I would like to take a moment to remember all of the brave men and women who lost their lives that day and all of the days after. I want to make sure that they are all remembered, and that their families and friends are also remembered and taken care of, for they lost their loved ones that day. Please take time today to send them all of your love and prayers. And if you lost a loved one that day or any day after because of September 11th, my thoughts and prayers are with you today. Amen.
