I had an uneven winter, so to speak, darling. Two years of Covid restrictions and one medical problem after another propelled me into a state I frankly had not visited before. I am happy to say that all is now well and I am hopeful that April Showers will bring May flowers into the Good home.

On a very personal level, it is hard to be upbeat when health issues arise. I was fortunate to have an uncomplaining husband, who remained true to form even in sickness as my rock. My story is below and there is a surprise for you at the end!

MY STORY

My husband, Shelly, has always been my rock; my go-to for everything. During the past four months, the tables have shifted due to illness and I have been his rock. It was emotionally unsettling though I did find my footing and my way of dealing. 

The month of December began as usual. A happy time of the year until the morning he told me he could not see out of one eye. He had a detached retina that required surgery in a hospital, prescription eye drops for several weeks, and non-stop doctor visits for more than eight weeks. Fortunately, I did not have to concern myself with medical bills because of Chapter.

This was especially wonderful because soon after his surgery, Shelly fell and broke his left wrist! To make matters worse, he also had an aortic valve replacement! Thankfully he is turning a corner after multiple medical scares.

I know firsthand how scary unexpected medical issues can become. In addition, these emergencies often cost people expensive and unforeseen medical bills.
